About This Ministry

The Gospel Broadcasting Association is the Christian evangelical and Bible-teaching ministry of Russell Lee Harris. The purpose of the ministry is proclamation of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and accurate exposition of the Scripture for edification of the Church, the Body of Christ Jesus.

“Gospel” is an Old English word meaning “glad tidings.” There is but one true Gospel, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God; this is the good news which Christ Jesus and the Apostles proclaimed and taught, Galatians 1:6-9. The Gospel is the tidings that the long-awaited Kingdom of God today is a reality. The Kingdom, first prophesied in the Garden, was inaugurated two thousand years ago when the King, Christ Jesus, ascended into Heaven and was seated upon the revived Throne of David.

The name, “The Gospel Broadcasting Association,” reflects the Scriptural portrayal of the Gospel as seed and of men as the soil upon which the Gospel is sown. Long before the advent of radio and television, the term “broadcasting” was an agricultural term. Seed sown by hand is “cast broadly” onto the field; consider the parable of the sower, Matthew 13:3-8, Mark 3:3-8, Luke 8:5-8.

The term “association” in our name reflects the fact that the Evangelist, devoting his full time to the proclamation and teaching of the Gospel, depends upon the support of other Christians. Indeed, in the days of the apostles, an evangelist typically received support from one or more local congregations as well as from a multiplicity of individuals, all of whom form the figurative feet which bear or transport the Evangelist as he goes about the business of proclaiming and teaching the Gospel. Such individuals are the object of special blessing by the Lord, who deems them “beautiful,” Isaiah 32:20, Isaiah 52:7, Romans 10:13-15; consider also the 12th chapter of I Corinthians.

We welcome the support of those who realize the responsibility of those who receive nourishment in the spiritual realm through teaching of the Word of God, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4, to support the teacher in the physical realm, I Corinthians 9:7-14, Galatians 6:6-10.

We offer publications ranging from brief, informal Bible notes to in-depth, scholarly topical studies and verse-by-verse exposition of the Scripture. All teaching is made available without charge; we have nothing to sell.

The Internet is the primary means by which we publish and distribute our teaching. All of our documents are posted on the Internet Web site, in the universal, printer-friendly PDF format, in order that they may be downloaded and printed for study. The Scripture exhorts the Christian to prove all things, I Thessalonians 5:21, and provides an example of the methodology, Acts 17:10-11.
