The postings in this section of the blog originated as e-mail messages. In keeping with the original intent of e-mail communication, the messages are written in “Plain Text”, which is to say, without “markup” such as HTML. This restriction requires a bit of inventiveness regarding typographic conventions, in order to clearly represent hierarchy and lists. Alternatives, such as HTML and attached PDF files, often are discarded without reading. Plain Text is more difficult to ignore.
